Reconsider control placement

Reported by: andreasf Assigned to: mike

Component: Q Control Version: Q-0.9.0a89

Description

In the Q Control window functionality is visually duplicated in toolbar and items.

Suggestion:

  • Remove remove button from item. This avoids accidentally hitting it (it's small and close to the stop button).
  • Decide where to place start, stop, edit buttons. Toolbar may be more natural on a Mac. Otherwise consider using a segmented +|- button below the list and drop toolbar completely.
  • Use standard File menu instead of Guest PC.
  • Add an Edit menu. It is not available e.g. in the Edit PC window.

  • status changed from new to closed.
  • resolution set to wontfix.

The new default Toolbar (0.9.0d89) consists only of the "New PC" icon, the others can be placed if needed. Maybe people have to delete they preferences or assign the default toolbar to notice the changes.

guestPC menu is clearer than file menu imho, maybe add 'duplicate PC' edit Menu is not needed atm... (no undo/redo/copy/paste)

I disagree on the Edit menu: Every app should have it, and it applies e.g. to any text field such as in the Edit PC window, possibly also when renaming the guest. Some functions are duplicated in the context menu but some are not, like the symbol table.

Q does not need delegates for undo/redo/copy/paste to enable this standard functionality. Please don't just mark it wontfix, rather assign it a later milestone or spawn a secondary, more limited ticket for it.
