This tutorial should help you to install a vanilla FreeDOS 1.0 as a Q GuestPC in 3 steps. You can download the installation CD for free from here. Let's say, if You can read and write "YES" and press "return", this should be no problem ;).

Step One: Configuring the GuestPC

  1. create new PC
    1. choose "DOS"
    2. hit "Create PC"
  2. in the "General" tab
    • give your guest a meaningfull name
  3. in the "Hardware" tab
    • set CD-ROM to your downloaded file
    • set Boot to "CD-ROM"
  4. hit "Create PC"

Step Two: Setting up FreeDOS


1. press "1" and "Return"



2. press "Return"



3. press "Return"



4. press "Return"



5. press "Return"



6. press "Return"



7. press "Return"



8. press "Return"



9. press "Return"



10. Select "YES" and press "Return"



11. Select "YES" and press "Return"



12. press "F3"



13. Select "YES" and press "Return"



14. Select "YES" and press "Return" (You have to reboot manually afterwards, by clicking the "Reset PC" Icon in the Guest Toolbar)



15. Select "YES" and press "Return"



16. type "YES" and press "Return"



17. press "Return"



18. press "Return"



19. press "Return"



20. press "Return"



21. Select "YES" and press "Return"



22. Select "done" and press "Return"



23. Select "YES" and press "Return"



24. watch the installation :)



25. press "Return"



26. type "Y" then shutdown the guest manually


Step Three: Reconfiguring the GuestPC

  1. edit PC
  2. in the "Hardware" tab
    • set Boot to "Harddisk"
  3. hit "Update PC"

Now You are ready to run.
