Downloading a Guest PC

Q features a Guest PC downloader to try a lot of preinstalled out-of-the-box Free Operating Systems from http://www.oszoo.org/. This is a project of the University of Bolognia, Italy.

Note: At the time of this writing the FreeOSZoo server was down. The bottom screeshots will be added soon.
We do offer a limited number of guest that we maintain an host:

• FreeDOS 1.0 (3.6mb)
• ReactOS 0.3.1 (19.4mb)
• Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) Server (175mb) username:kju password:password
• Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft) Desktop (713mb) username:kju password:password

To bring up the downloads window choose "Download New Guest PC from free.oszoo.org...".



You can choose from a list of several Free Operating Systems with different versions.



If you select one from the list, details are shown below which feature name, a description and a link to the FreeOSZoo page for more information.

Error: Macro Image(KjuGuestDownloader:QControl_Downloader_Download.jpg) failed

Attachment KjuGuestDownloader: QControl_Downloader_Download.jpg does not exist.

Once you made you choice you can click the "Download" button to start the download.

Q uses Bittorrent technology from the great Transmission bittorrent client.

If you get an error message "Could not download the bittorrent meta file..." it is very likely that the FreeOSZoo server is currently down. We have no influence on that. You should try again later.

When the download is finished, Q extracts the files from the archive and automatically creates your ready-to-run Guest PC.

Attachment KjuGuestDownloader: QControl_Downloader_RunGuestPC.jpg does not exist.

You can now start the Free Operating System by simply double-clicking it.
