This tutorial should help you to install a vanilla Ubuntu 6.06 Server as a Q GuestPC in 2 steps. You can download the installation CD for free from here. This is a plain server. You need to add all services you need with apt-get. Be sure to configure apt-get before to point to the proper repository.

Step One: Configuring the GuestPC

1. create new PC
   1. choose "Q Standard Guest"
   2. hit "Create PC"
2. in the "General" tab
   • give your guest a meaningfull name
   • uncheck "Set clock to host time"
3. in the "Hardware" tab
   • set CD-ROM to your downloaded file
4. hit "Create PC"

Step Two: Setting up Ubuntu

1. press "Return"



2. press "Return"



3. press "Return"



4. press "Return"



5. watch progress



6. press "Return"



7. watch progress



8. press "Return"



9. watch progress



10. select "YES" and press "Return"



11. watch progress



12. press "Return"



13. watch progress



14. select "YES" and press "Return"



15. type a name and press "Return"



16. type a short-name and press "Return"



17. type a password and press "Return"



18. retype the password and press "Return"



19. watch progress



20. select "CONTINUE" and press "Return"



21. watch progress



22. Ubuntu Server will now boot for the first time.

It's now ready to be run and customized!
